Fudge Factor

Fudge is more than a unique confection, it is one of those simple pleasures that give us a moment of peace as we enjoy not only the fresh creamy taste but the warm flood of memories that it brings.

Mo’s Fudge Factor was started in March of 2006. After working for many entrepreneurial companies; (Vermont Country Store, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, Yankee Candle Co., and Pawsenclaws & Co.) I decided it was time to give my own business a try. I’d worked in almost every aspect of retail; as a sales associate, a merchandiser, a buyer, a merchandise manager and most recently as director of merchandise and marketing.  I had been at Yankee Candle for over 12 years - I was ready for a change.  A big change.

As fortune would have it, my neighbor  (a retired baker), had just put a small commercial kitchen in his home, and was willing to lease me a 6-foot corner of his kitchen for my kettle and workspace, so Mo’s was born!  I started selling my fudge at craft markets as well as wholesaling it to local stores and offering fundraising programs to schools and organizations. On July 7,2007 (7/7/07 LUCKY!!) we opened our 1,300 square foot retail shop!

We have a small candy nook in the store where you can see me making fudge and chocolate and candy apples and....well, you can see me making a lot of different things.  There are always ten varieties of freshly made fudge waiting for you to sample, and we make our own taffy and pull it right in the front window! There is a 16 foot candy wall that has over 60 candy jars for you to scoop your favorite candies, and of course the ice cream! We offer deliciously thick shakes, ice cream cones, root beer floats and sundaes featuring our home made hot fudge sauce.

So you still are wondering “Why Mo’s? And what is a Fudge Factor?” (Yes fudge factor, not factory!!) Well, M.o stands for Michelle Olanyk (that’s me!), and the fudge factor is that little bit of room we give ourselves to make mistakes, or for life to happen, (I could not live without it!).  It also speaks to the mystique that surrounds fudge and the appeal it has with people. It is a magical confection that brings back memories of grandma’s kitchen or a walk at the Jersey shore...  When people are offered a small taste there’s a bit of happiness left on their faces as they lick their lips and enjoy!! Mo’s Fudge is made fresh to order and can be shipped anywhere in the US. We also provide custom gift services, wedding favors and corporate gifts as well as a fudge of the month club.
